The following websites are highly recommended:

Oregon Specific

  1. Mary's Peak Hound Club: I'm a member, and if you run hounds you should be too. Mary's Peak was just recognized by ODFW for 18 years of running the youth rabbit hunt, they have sponsored the handicapped rabbit hunt, and taught the Becoming an Outdoors Woman/Passport to the Outdoors class and rabbit hunt. They also volunteer countless hours on E. E. Wilson helping to maintain the habitat and facilities.
  2. Oregon United Sporting Dog Association: As far as membership--ditto. These guys are very active in terms of watching out for the houndsman's rights in our state.
  3. E. E. Wilson: The one wildlife area in Oregon that manages the harvesting of rabbits. It is also the single best place to run into other beaglers during the fall and winter.
  4. Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife: Anything you might need to know about hunting in Oregon is here. To find the current regulations, click on the Hunting link.
  5. Oregon Administrative Rules for Fish and Wildlife: Just in case you ever need to go to court.
  6. Oregon Revised Statutes: Again, just in case.

Beagling in General

  1. Beagles Unlimited: It doesn't get updated a lot but it has a lot of great information (check out the Beagle Health index).
  2. Game & Fish Magazine: New articles are far and few between, but there is a lot of fun reading for now (the index is several pages long--you have to click through the page list at the bottom of the articles to see everything).

Online Stores

  1. Cabelas: If you need gear, this is the place to go. No, I am not paid by them, but I am consistently impressed by their prices and customer service.
  2. Gun Dog Supply: Steve Snell who owns this store is one of the nicest fellows I have ever talked with and will spend all the time it takes to answer your questions about hunting dog gear.
  3. Dog.com: I buy Greenies (look for the big box), rope toys, and flea medicine exclusively from these guys.

Non-Beagling

  1. Oregon Firearms Association: Working to make sure you still get to hunt and protect yourself.
  2. National Rifle Association: Working to make sure that everybody gets to hunt and protect themselves. Yes their website sucks. If you want real information, link to . . .
  3. NRA Institute for Legislative Action: Click on News at the top of the page. Repeat daily until 2nd amendment rights are secure.
